sarvān bandhūn avasthitān

kṛpayā parayāviṣṭo

Word for word:

tān — all of them; samīkṣya — after seeing; saḥ — he; kaunteyaḥ — the son of Kuntī; sarvān — all kinds of;bandhūn — relatives; avasthitān — situated; kṛpayā — by compassion; parayā — of a high grade; āviṣṭaḥ — overwhelmed; viṣīdan — while lamenting; idam — thus; abravīt — spoke.

Translation:

When the son of Kuntī, Arjuna, saw all these different grades of friends and relatives, he became overwhelmed with compassion and spoke thus.

tān samīkṣya sa kaunteyaḥ, so here again we have word īkṣya coming for the 5th time

sarvān bandhūn avasthitān, all of them were relatives, avasthitān, situated

kṛpayā parayāviṣṭo, so he was overcome by emotions strong emotions, so here the emotions talked about is compassion. Parayā is very strong, it is not Para i.e. transcendental, here it is Parya material parya it is so strong that it is overwhelming, so it is ayāviṣṭo which means it is overwhelming, it came over him, he came into VASA of that.

viṣīdann idam abravīt, and then viṣīdann means lamenting.

When compassion came over him, it made him lament and while lamenting he spoke these words.

So, we see that the perception shapes the emotion tremendously. What we see affects us. Of course, all of our senses affect us, but vision affects our emotions quite strongly. So when Arjuna sees, immediately his emotions get affected. We will see the contrast in his thinking earlier and his thinking now.
