So after this let us go to next section on BG

1-10: KY is better than JY

10-16: If you are not qualified even for KY then practice KK

17-24: If you are qualified for JY, still practice KY to set example

25-29: KY-KK difference

30-35: How KY elevates

36-43: Overcome lust, the main obstacle on the path of KY

So let us look at example of setting examples for other now

Bg 3.17

yas tv ātma-ratir eva syād
ātma-tṛptaś ca mānavaḥ
ātmany eva ca santuṣṭas
tasya kāryaṁ na vidyate

Word for word:

yaḥ — one who; tu — but; ātmaratiḥ — taking pleasure in the Self; eva — certainly; syāt — remains; ātmatṛptaḥ — self-illuminated; ca — and; mānavaḥ — a man; ātmani — in himself; eva — only; ca — and; santuṣṭaḥ — perfectly satiated; tasya — his; kāryam — duty; na — does not; vidyate — exist.

Translation:

But for one who takes pleasure in the Self, whose human life is one of self-realization, and who is satisfied in the Self only, fully satiated – for him there is no duty.

yas tv ātma-ratir eva syād, ātma-ratir, so one who has rati, attachment, attraction so one whose rati is inwards, ātma-tṛptaś ca mānavaḥ, one who is satisfied internally . ātmany eva ca santuṣṭas, and one who delights within, tasya kāryaṁ na vidyate, such a person has no duty

It is interesting now what does it means such a person has no duty here Krishna is now talking about a person who has transcended the scope of duty in this world as long as we take something from someone we are expected to give something back and that how we live in a reciprocal world e.g. parent – child relationship and care, similarly with devatas, now Krishna is saying if somebody is self-satisfied and not seeking anything externally then such a person  tasya kāryaṁ na vidyate, for such a person there is no duty, so atma comes here three times ātma-ratir, ātma-tṛpta, ātmany santuṣṭa so when a person is turned inwards, satisfied inwards, illuminated inwards, at that time a person doesn’t seek anything external, then we are freed from external obligation, tasya kāryaṁ na vidyate. Such a person there is not duty.

This is elevated stage who can come to such stage, actually Gyan Yogis are expected to be at this stage, a Gyan Yogis has renounced the world and goes to forest for practicing meditation and through this they expect to transcend their material existence and return back to external realm of existence.

SP cut down to bring this to practical level in Purport: Such a Kṛṣṇa conscious person is no longer interested in material activities and no longer takes pleasure in material arrangements like wine, women and similar infatuations.

So the point is one doesn’t need anything material.
