Now Krishna will give one more example of a Person who act to set good example.

Bg 3.22

na me pārthāsti kartavya
triu lokeu kiñcana
nānavāptam avāptavya
varta eva ca karmai

Word for word:

na — not; me — Mine; pārtha — O son of Pthā; asti — there is; kartavyam — prescribed duty; triu — in the three; lokeu — planetary systems; kiñcana — any; na — nothing; anavāptam — wanted; avāptavyam — to be gained; varte — I am engaged; eva — certainly; ca — also; karmai — in prescribed duty.

Translation:

O son of Pthā, there is no work prescribed for Me within all the three planetary systems. Nor am I in want of anything, nor have I a need to obtain anything – and yet I am engaged in prescribed duties.

na me pārthāsti,O Partha, na asti kartavya, there is no prescribed duty for Me.

triu lokeu kiñcan, nor in three worlds there is any duty for Me

nānavāptam avāptavya, Nor am I in want (what I require) of anything, nor have I a need to obtain or gain (further need) anything

varta eva ca karmai, still I am engaged in my duty.

So yet Krishna has not revealed in BG that He is God. Although He has revealed in 2.61 yukta āsīta mat-para, fix you mind on Me that indicates He is not just teacher He is Supreme Lord. But that is not explicitly said.

In general Indian culture people know that Krishna is God but here in flow of BG Krishna has not introduced Himself as First Person God directly.

But here He points towards that and He says na me pārthāsti kartavya, there is no duty for Me. Now why there is no duty for Him because He is the Supreme Lord He is not subordinate to anyone, in fact there is a well-known Upanisad verse which Srila Prabhupada quotes in the purport, The Supreme Personality of Godhead is described in the Vedic literatures as follows:

tam īśvarāṇāṁ parama maheśvara
ta devatānāṁ parama ca daivatam
pati patīnāṁ parama parastād
vidāma deva bhuvaneśam īḍyam

na tasya kārya karaa ca vidyate
na tat-samaś cābhyadhikaś ca dṛśyate
parāsya śaktir vividhaiva śrūyate
svābhāvikīāna-bala-kriyā ca

“The Supreme Lord is the controller of all other controllers, and He is the greatest of all the diverse planetary leaders. Everyone is under His control. All entities are delegated with particular power only by the Supreme Lord; they are not supreme themselves. He is also worshipable by all demigods and is the supreme director of all directors. Therefore, He is transcendental to all kinds of material leaders and controllers and is worshipable by all. There is no one greater than Him, and He is the supreme cause of all causes.

“He does not possess a bodily form like that of an ordinary living entity. There is no difference between His body and His soul. He is absolute. All His senses are transcendental. Any one of His senses can perform the action of any other sense. Therefore, no one is greater than Him or equal to Him. His potencies are multifarious, and thus His deeds are automatically performed as a natural sequence.” (Śvetāśvatara Upaniad 6.7–8)

tam īśvarāṇāṁ parama maheśvara, there are many Iswaras but among them you are the Supreme Maheshwar.

ta devatānāṁ parama ca daivatam, among the various devatas you are the Supreme Devata,

pati patīnāṁ parama parastād, actually there are many masters but He is the supreme master, Pati can be master Pati can be husband.

vidāma deva bhuvaneśam īḍyam, bhuvaneś, He is the Lord of all places.

So this is talking about the position of the Lord, now related to our point

na tasya kārya karaa ca vidyate, that person has no prescribed duty

na tat-samaś cābhyadhikaś ca dṛśyate, there is no higher authority equal to Him or above Him who will tell Him do this or that. He is Supreme Lord.

So if God doesn’t have any duty then all everything is controlled that is explained in next part…

parāsya śaktir vividhaiva śrūyate, parāsya śaktir, that Absolute Truth have many-many. vividhaiva śrūyate, energies so Krishna just desires and things happens He is called Satya Sankalpa, He desires and things happens.

svābhāvikīāna-bala-kriyā ca, so How does He acquire knowledge of everything? There are three aspects talked about Gyana (knowledge), Bala(capacity for action) and Kriya (action), so for Him all these are svābhāvikī, means it happens naturally so for example when some fly sits it some itch is there we take care of that sub-consciously so similarly for Krishna these things (controlling every things) happens sub-consciously so for Krishna everything happens automatically He does not have to struggle to do anything.

So the point is Krishna doesn’t have any duty still He is doing His duty.
