So now Krishna answers Arjuna’s question about Varnashankara here.

Bg 3.23

yadi hy ahaṁ na varteyaṁ
jātu karmaṇy atandritaḥ
mama vartmānuvartante
manuṣyāḥ pārtha sarvaśaḥ

Word for word:

yadi — if; hi — certainly; aham — I; na — do not; varteyam — thus engage; jātu — ever; karmaṇi — in the performance of prescribed duties; atandritaḥ — with great care; mama — My; vartma — path; anuvartante — would follow; manuṣyāḥ — all men; pārtha — O son of Pṛthā; sarvaśaḥ — in all respects.

Translation:

For if I ever failed to engage in carefully performing prescribed duties, O Pārtha, certainly all men would follow My path.

yadi hy ahaṁ na varteyaṁ, if  I am not engaged

jātu karmaṇy atandritaḥ, atandritaḥ, means with great attention, if I am not engaged in my Karma with great attention then what will happen?

mama vartmānuvartante, then others would have acted similarly

manuṣyāḥ pārtha sarvaśaḥ, then all living beings would have acted similarly

This verse c & d will again come in more famous verse 4.11 c and d, the context here and there is different.

Here mama vartmānuvartante, my path, manuṣyāḥ pārtha sarvaśaḥ, all living entity will follow.

Which means if I will not act attentively then everyone will act accordingly and if that happens then it will lead to disruption.

So atandritaḥ, Krishna attains His duties very attentively.

So in 69 & 70-71 chapter in SB 10th canto there is a description of Krishna acting house holder life…

When Narad Muni visited diff palaces in Dwaraka, in diff palaces even the time was different, some palaces it was morning and Krishna was doing morning oblation and some palaces it was other time say afternoon etc. it was not that there was competition between Krishna and Narad Muni…Krishna was simultaneously present in all the palaces. This indicated that Krishna controls everything including space and time.

Someone may ask the question what example Krishna was setting in Vrindavan but in Vrindavan Krishna has not taken any leadership position, also Vrindavan is a transcendental place, abode of love and there is no need to set examples there. Krishna does activities in Vrindavan to intensify love of His devotees. There Krishna set example of Pure Love.

Vrindavan is arena of Prema.

Mathura and Dwarika, Hastinapur is arena of Dharma.
