Bg 10.10

teṣāṁ satata-yuktānāṁ
bhajatāṁ prīti-pūrvakam
dadāmi buddhi-yogaṁ taṁ
yena mām upayānti te

Word for word: 

teṣām — unto them; satata–yuktānām — always engaged; bhajatām — in rendering devotional service; prīti–pūrvakam — in loving ecstasy; dadāmi — I give; buddhi–yogam — real intelligence; tam — that; yena — by which; mām — unto Me; upayānti — come; te — they.

Translation: 

To those who are constantly devoted to serving Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me.

 

teṣāṁ, those people who are talked about in the previous verse.

So 10.9 what did He talked about, it talks primarily about Abhideya how to practice devotion, and the delight tuṣyanti ca ramanti ca is talking about Prayojana. 

This two verse 10.10 and 10.11 talks about Abhideya, 

teṣāṁ satata-yuktānāṁ

bhajatāṁ prīti-pūrvakam, let them, devotees be engaged in Bhakti with affection and devotion prīti-pūrvakam, so affectionately not resentfully not grudgingly if we are doing Bhakti resentfully then we prevent Krishna from giving us what He wanted to give.

dadāmi buddhi-yogaṁ taṁ, I will give Buddhi Yoga, yena mām upayānti te, by which you come to Me. 

Buddhi Yoga is a compound word, this is used in 2nd chapter in 2.39, there the meaning was acting intelligently for the purpose of Yoga, there Krishna had not talked about Himself so much, so there meaning was, now you got the knowledge of body and soul to do yoga so that you connect with higher spiritual reality, there it was not told what is that higher spiritual reality but here it is clearly told that I am that highest spiritual reality. 

 

So I am the Supreme Truth and I give the knowledge by which you come back to Me. 

These are the headache verses for mayavadi as here  Krishna is talking about Himself very directly, so they say see here Krishna is saying by doing Bhakti Bhuddi will come, so Buddhi is highest which means Gyana which is used for impersonal merging, but this is completely unwanted explanation because Krishna is saying what is the result of Bhuddhi, “yena mām upayānti te”, by which you will come to Me. Krishna is not saying I will give you Bhuddhi by which you will go to Brahman, or some other reality beyond Me, no you will come to Me. 

So Buddhi-Yoga has two meaning Buddhi which helps us to do Yoga or Yoga which grants Bhuddhi. 

Buddhi which helps us to do Yoga: Krishna will give Buddhi

ānukūlyasya saṅkalpaḥ

prātikūlyasya varjanam

Yoga which grants Budhi:
śṛṇvatāṁ sva-kathāḥ kṛṣṇaḥ
1.2.6 to 21, describes how we become purified by the process of Bhakti.

By that process we understand the science of Krishna

Bhagvad Tattva Vigyanam Mukata Sangas Te Jayate

SP Purport: At very foundational level we should know the goal and scripture gives the path, which is rendering DS and Krishna gives the intelligence and path become more and more clear.

We wanted to study scripture so that we wanted to love Krishna this study is not to intellectually scrutinise Krishna it is to intellectually submit to Krishna.

Studies removes our misconception and increases our conviction by which we can go back to Krishna.
