This is a vision it is not that a form of God consumes everything it is vision which demonstrates this principle of destruction in this world which is evitable, and the destruction is within the jurisdiction of God. When we see this vision we have to understand all pervasive action of God.

In 4.25 we have discussed that Kurukhetra war is like a fire sacrifice and all Kaurvas are like Ahuti which will be poured in the fire and Arjuna’s Gandiva is like liddle the spoon by which we offer, so here Lord also demonstrates that I will accept whatever you will offer Arjuna.

In fire sacrifice fire represents as mouth of Vishnu and it is not limited to only fire sacrifice it is a principle and it includes all kind of sacrifices which we have discussed in 4.25 to 4.29, different kinds of Yajna and 4.30  – 32 talks about principal underline Yajnas.
