yathā prakāśayaty ekaḥ
kṛtsnaṁ lokam imaṁ raviḥ
kṣetraṁ kṣetrī tathā kṛtsnaṁ
prakāśayati bhārata

Synonyms:

yathā — as; prakāśayati — illuminates; ekaḥ — one; kṛtsnam — the whole; lokam — universe; imam — this; raviḥ — sun; kṣetram — this body; kṣetrī — the soul; tathā — similarly; kṛtsnam — all; prakāśayati — illuminates; bhārata — O son of Bharata.

Translation:

O son of Bharata, as the sun alone illuminates all this universe, so does the living entity, one within the body, illuminate the entire body by consciousness.

yathā prakāśayaty ekaḥ, prakāśayaty, so there is one Ravi the Sun, and what does it do kṛtsnaṁ lokam imaṁ raviḥ, that it illumines the whole universe,

kṣetraṁ kṣetrī tathā kṛtsnaṁ, similarly the kṣetrī, the atma illumines the Kshetra,

prakāśayati bhārata

So one may say that the ether does not mix with the elements that are present in it, but does the ether gets affected? We can say that the ether doesn’t get effected ether is completely detached but we see that the spirit effects matter, spirit causes changes in matter, so if the soul and matter are entirely disconnected then how it become connected? And how does it act together? This is the major philosophical question in western philosophy and actually inability to answer this question has make exile of soul from mainstream intellectual circles in western knowledge systems. The Vedic philosophy explains that actually the mediation is done through Super Soul, Super Soul is controller of both matter and spirit, and Super Soul gets the soul’s desire to be transmitted and to have appropriate changes made in matter, also here the example is given that the Sun is far away from the earth and the Sun not only illumines but the sun also activates, when Sun rises the flower starts blossoming, the birds start chirping and the whole vegetation comes alive this happens because there is connection but is Sun responsible if at some places there is positive growth and some places there is negative growth? Some places good crops grow some places there is weeds grow? The Sun is not responsible. The reason is certain kinds of seeds are sown so certain kinds of crops grow.

So the same way Soul illumines the body with consciousness and the consciousness is the cause of activity happened in the world. Just as the Sun illumines the light.

Of course Vedic science knows that not only Sun but higher planets are also illuminating lights.

So here kṛtsnaṁ refers to our known worlds it doesn’t refer to heavenly worlds it is contextualized example to illustrate a particular point.
